South Carolina Blizzard of 2010
Here’s just a quick panorama showing the snow we got last Friday.

Flipping through my Chinese videos, I found a few that I had never shared before and decided to upload them for your viewing pleasure. The first video is of the freak snow storm that hit us when we were in Beijing waiting to go to Shenyang. You can read all about that special story here, here, and here if you have no idea what I am talking about.

Snow is such a rare thing in South Carolina, that when those wonderful white flakes do fall out of the sky, the entire state shuts down. No lie. For instance, the amount of snow seen in the video below is about all we had – a dusting. Even before the snow began to fall, many schools decided to close for the day and many others had delayed openings. I’m hoping they closed in fear of the snow being worse than it was because it really wasn’t anything to worry about in Columbia. The roads were wet, but they weren’t any worse than a rainy day. Of course, no one in Columbia can drive when it rains, so I can’t imagine they could drive any better with pretty white flakes distracting them. I’m waiting for the blizzard of 1973 to rear its ugly head again, so that I can experience 16+ inches of snow in person. I wonder how many days of work and school were missed then. That may have been the year my brother prayed for snow. Boy, were his prayers answered!

We still have February to get through, so maybe we’ll get some more snow. I want to peg Phil with at least one snow ball. 🙂 Just one.
Do you have your fill of snow for this year now?

And here we are basking in beautiful days in the mid 20’s with shorts and tee shirts the oder of the day.

I wouldn’t mind seeing it once or twice more before the winter is over – just as long as it doesn’t keep me from going any where.

There was snow in Linyi last week, but this week it is all gone and a spring-like 10C. We never have snow like in the blizzard panorama here, some years it snows and some years it doesn’t. What is your arrival date?

We very rarely get any snow at all. This was a freak accident. All week long they said that we would either get nothing or a dusting. They said that the only weather model indicating any accumulation was the Japanese weather model. So far away, but yet they nailed it!! 🙂
I should know my departure date this weekend when I get my visa. Probably March 10th-ish. Give or take a few days. I’ll let you know.
