Happy Halloween!

bya Gabrielle at 8:24 AM

I think Morgan was Basement Cat. Perhaps she went back to Hell to make sure all the other hell cats were behaving themselves.

I’ve finally decided what to be for Halloween.  The Purple Queen!  You’ll understand when I take some pictures and upload them later. And I didn’t have to spend a dime.  Horray!  Everything came free of charge out of my wardrobe.  Can’t beat that.

Some Birds, Flowers, and Other Random Stuff

bya Gabrielle at 7:00 AM

Flower. Pretty. Nuff Said.
Flower. Pretty. Nuff Said.

I found this little guy hiding on one of the flowers I was taking pictures of. The strange this is right after I took the picture, he vanished. Since he is a jumping spider, I made sure he wasn't on my camera or anything, but I never found him.

I think I have taken a million pictures of flowers. I don't know why I like taking pictures of them so much. I see them, and it just sorta happens. Yeah, I know, I have a problem.

I found it humorous, but I wanted to kick the butts of the kids who did it. That is how I know I am getting old.

Muscovys are ugly birds, but their babies are adorable. I can't wait til spring rolls again so I can take pictures of them.

What can I say about a bird feather? Had I not been in such a hurry, I think I could have gotten a better photo.

Critters Not Paying Rent at Riverbanks Zoo

bya Gabrielle at 7:01 AM

I think this is the last of them.  Enjoy!
I just happened to see this not-so-cute caterpillar hiding underneath a leaf as Phil and I walked around the zoo. If I was a bird, I would not want to eat this critter.

One day, I am going to attempt to take a picture of a bee, get to close to it, piss it off, and get stung. Last time I checked, I am allegric to wasps. Don't want to find out if the same holds true for other winged critters with a stinger.

I found this guy in the Botanical Garden section of the zoo. I love spiders, I do, but man, getting close enough to take a picture of one freaks me out. Why couldn't God make spiders cute?

I guess this Anole is using the metal of the name plate to warm himself up. Note how he's looking at me.

Apparently, the name plates are popular among the Anoles. He's a cutie.

I made Phil take this one because I wasn't about to get that close to the spider. I felt safe with the other Writing Spider cause he had been on the other side of the web. Spiders give me the willies.

More Pictures From Riverbanks Zoo

bya Gabrielle at 7:00 AM

I told you that I took 195 some pictures when Phil and I went to Riverbanks Zoo this past weekend, so it should come as no surprise that all of these posts are zoo related.  I’ll get on to something new soon.  I just haven’t been taking any pictures or videos of anything interesting lately.  The zoo was the first time out and about with my camera in a long time.

I love cats, but I know if Morgan Rose had been this big, she would eaten me alive the first time I told her no.

Animals at the zoo seem to be in a perpetual state of sleep. Maybe the zoo keepers feed them sleeping pills.

I took 16 pictures of this stupid bird(hawk) while he was participating in a bird show, and this is the only one that didn't turn out blurry. His name is Houdini.

Turtle Feeding Frenzy at Riverbanks Zoo

bya Gabrielle at 7:00 AM

Usually, when I go to the zoo, the turtles are just sitting there soaking up the sun, but on Saturday, we happened to show up shortly after they had been fed.  Lucky for us, turtles take a while to eat and I was able to snap a few pictures and a video.  In New Mexico, we had lots of turtles living in our backyard.  It was like a tropical paradise for them with all the plants we had.  They weren’t nearly as big as this guy, of course.  Isn’t he cute?

Riverbanks Zoo: A Crocodile Adventure

bya Gabrielle at 10:15 AM

Phil and I went to Riverbanks Zoo on Saturday.  It was a beautiful day.  Wasn’t too hot.  Nor too cold.  Like Goldilocks would say, “It was just right.”  My only complaint was the amount of people there; especially the legions of small children running amuck. I took 195 pictures there, and of all of them, the picture of the Crocodile below is my favorite.  I wonder what he is thinking.

Proof That My Kitty Was The Devil

bya Gabrielle at 7:00 AM

Morgan Rose Ireland Yvette DeWitter

Morgan Rose Ireland Yvette DeWitter

Well, if she wasn’t The Devil, she was at least some sort of undead that hell spawned.  Sadly, my kitty is no longer with me.  Her visa expired several months ago, and she had to return from whence she came.  I miss her so much.

I miss her trying to steal my dinner, her hissing at me because I told her she had to go outside,  and her few and far in between kisses.  I miss the conversations we would have.  No, really, my cat talked to me.  She was by far the most vocal cat I have ever known.  I doubt I will meet another one quite like her.

I really wish I knew what happened to her.  One day she was here, looking evil as always, and the next day she was gone.  Even her buddies, Dopple and Thames, have disapeared.

Her greatest moment ever was when she peed on this guy who had to stay over one night.  She peed directly on his crotch while he was sleeping.  When he woke up, he thought he had wet the bed.  I have never laughed so hard in my entire life.  He turned out not to be such a good friend not too long after that, and so I thanked her.  Seems she knew before I did that he was a no good dirty rotten rat.

She liked Phil though – a lot.  I wonder if she liked him because she knew he was allergic to her.  That is what an evil cat would do, I think.

Ah, I miss you kitty.

A Day with My Camera

bya Gabrielle at 7:00 AM

Robin in a Field

I wish the robin had let me a bit closer and that his face wasn’t as dark.

Dragonfly

I don’t know what is was with all of the creatures I was trying to photograph, but none of them wanted to stay in one place for more than half a second and they all happened to be just a wee too far away.

Grill Art

Me trying to be artistic.

I’m Alive, Just Busy as a Bee . . . He he

bya Gabrielle at 7:29 PM

Bumble Bee

You have no idea how long I have been trying for a good shot of a bumble bee.

Pretty Flower

A pretty flower I found up in West Virginia.  Stupid shadow.

Moth

It’s amazing that I got a picture of this little guy at all.  Every time I tried to focus he’d fly away.  He’s got such big eyes!

Invading Ants

bya Gabrielle at 10:55 AM

The video quality sucks, but my commentary kinda makes up for it.

Several years ago I started collecting Pez.  After I had collected over a one hundred or so, I ran out of space to display them.  That is when I started pinning them to the wall.  Eventually, they covered the perimeter of my room, and not long after that two of my walls were completely dedicated to Pez.  If I hadn’t stopped collecting, every inch of my room would be covered in Pez. I can only imagine what the ants thought when the found my room.  They probably screamed, “Jackpot!”

I don’t know how many I have now, but I am pretty sure it’s something like three or four hundred.  A few of them are worth some money, but the majority of them are worth less than what I paid.  People ask me why I still keep them.  I tell them that one day the world will run out of food, and when it does,  I’ll be able to survive a few days longer than everyone else.  🙂

I was very nice to the army of invading ants.  I didn’t want to kill them, so I got a piece of paper, scooped them all up and took them all outside.  It took about four trips.  As they all scuried away, I told them not to come back.  And so far, they haven’t.  🙂
